Hello friend,

The Tiny Letter gang have decided to close their door and so I have moved over here to Substack, which is a large attic space with springy sofas for tall writers and you and me to hang out. I’d love you to stay part of my writing family and continue to receive my letters which as you know are about writing, performance, my mum, and things like when I leave my flat and decide to compost a bad novel down my allotment.

From now on…

Most months I’ll be posting a short letter cum personal essay. These will remain free, but there is an option to subscribe and support my writing. These letters of mine do take a long time to write, and are a fair bit of work on top of my other work, so if you can spare a bit of change it’ll certainly put some lead in my pencil.

Also, paid subscribers will be granted special access to the ‘velvet room’. Think of it as a special club where other things arty happen for those of you who want more. Free subscribers will get my short tall letter, but as a paid subscriber you’ll get you access to extracts from my new book, filmed readings, plus things like a filmed video bedtime story, or an in depth look at how I write. Great for all of you who are writers and want more of a community, or for those who (like me) like to nose about someone’s writing room.

For those who wish to subscribe as a five gold-star founding member, you can glow in the warmth of how you are keeping me alive as a writer, but will also get the opportunity for me to look at your writing with a video call and written feedback on 3000 words.
